CARE Workshop

Coordinating the Antenna Research in Europe

The Final Workshop of the CARE project will be joined with the EuCAP2012 Conference. The workshop will be held in room "Club A" on Wednesday March 28, from 14.00 to 16.20 .

CARE aims at reinforcing the collaboration among the European Institutions involved in antenna research, with a specific emphasis on focus on the New Member States, by the following activities:

1) researchers secondments

2) international workshops

3) training courses

4) dissemination, by conferences and Internet

CARE cooperates with the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP) in its dissemination activities.

The CARE Final Workshop will be focused on presenting the project outcomes and the research resulted from the CARE secondments.

The EuCAP Delegates are welcome, free of charge, to the CARE Final Workshop and the CARE secondees are invited to present their work, in the frame of an international conference.

Schmid and Partner AG (SPEAG) is a world leader in providing both numerical and instrumentation tools for the accurate evaluation of electromagnetic near- and far-fields ranging from static to optical frequencies. Committed to the highest quality, our products provide fast, accurate and reliable evaluation and optimization of EM fields in complex environments.   Our products are utilized for a wide customer base including all leading members of the industry, as well as, the most important government and regulatory agencies.

In the framework of EuCAP 2012, SPEAG is pleased to invite all participants to a workshop outlining the frontiers of numerical and experimental research in the field of EM assessment. Moreover, our experts will reveal the capabilities of SPEAG's latest tools and apply them interactively to the effective analysis and optimization of today's most complex antenna systems.

Agenda/Topics (Presentations, Live Demos, Interactive Workshop):

  • SEMCAD X: New V14.8 Release - Major Features
  • TDS: Novel Active-Optical Sensors for Radio-Frequency E and H Near-field Measurements
  • DAK: Obtaining High-Precision Dielectric Material Characterization of Liquids and Solids
  • iSAR: Fast and High-resolution SAR Estimation from Wireless Devices
  • OTA: Novel Phantoms for Over-The-Air Tests

Limited seating is available, registration is required and will be handled on a first come first serve basis.

CST System Integrity Workshop

Speakers: Vratislav Sokol, Marc Ruetschlin

Virtual prototyping by electromagnetic simulation has assumed an increasingly central role in product design and an engineer's daily work. The benefits of simulation in accelerating the design cycle are widely appreciated, but looking at an individual component in isolation is often insufficient. CST is introducing System Assembly and Modeling (SAM): a new approach to simplify modeling, simulation and optimization of electromagnetic systems. The CST System Integrity Workshop will give design and research engineers an insight into the latest 3D simulation technology for designing electromagnetic components as well as assembled systems using CST STUDIO SUITE® 2012.

2012 AMTA Wokrshop at EuCAP

In collaboration between AMTA (“Antenna Measurement Techniques Association”) and EuCap 2012, it is organized the sixth edition of the free workshop on Antenna Measurement Techniques. After the success of the previous years, the topic selected for this year is “Low Frequency Antenna Measurements”. These edition lecturers will come from the Antenna Measurement Manufacturers and from the University.

The first presentation will be given Sergey Pivnenko, from DTU. Doctor Pivnenko received the PhD degree from Kharkiv National University (Ukraine) in 1999. Since 2000, he is an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark, where he is in charge of the Antenna Measurements at the DTU-ESA Spherical Near-Field Antenna Test Facility. The topic of this presentation is “High-accuracy spherical near-field antenna measurements at 435 MHz”, and different aspects of high-accuracy spherical near-field antenna measurements at frequencies as low as 400 MHz will be discussed:

recently developed wideband (0.4-1.2 GHz) dual-polarized probe, corresponding high-order probe correction, and a series of verification tests for an antenna measurement procedure including high-order probe correction. A case study on example of P-band BIOMASS antenna measurements for the future ESA mission will also be presented.

The second presentation will be given by engineers from Microwave Vision Group. They will present about the experience of SATIMO and ORBIT/FR in 80 MHz automotive measurement area, where they have developed several antenna measurement ranges for the industry.

After these presentations, we will have the opportunity of having a fruitful discussion with the lecturers.

You are kindly welcome on Tuesday March 27th from 15:00 to 16:20 at room Club A.
